“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20.
The Great Commission should be the center point of our lives and ministries. Within about a two month period God has enabled us to have a vitally active part in the ministry here in Kiana, Alaska. Before we had arrived in Kiana, Jennifer and I had no idea what to expect. However, we believed deep in our hearts that God would use us not because of our abilities, talents, or education, but because of our willingness to serve Him wherever. We have grown to thoroughly love the scenery of the quaint little arctic village of Kiana, but we are even more excited to see God working in the lives of the village natives. God is at work in our ministry here, and we want to give Him all of the praise and glory for what He has done.
We are in the middle of discipling 25 children in our discipleship classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These are children that have either recently accepted Christ in their hearts through Vacation Bible School or in the recent past. We also have a discipleship class for five young ladies on Wednesdays who have either rededicated their lives to God or were saved at Alaska Native Youth Camp. On top of that we are privileged to be discipling Elmond, Iggie, and Johnny who are adults in Kiana who have also have recently come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
There are also some in the village who are wishing to start an adult Bible study that will be held in one of the village homes. Jennifer and I are extremely excited about this, as we believe that evangelism and discipleship will be a vital part of reaching the villages for Jesus Christ. Jennifer is actively involved in Sunday School, and I am extremely privileged to be able to preach and lead the worship time for Kiana Baptist Mission. Continue to pray for us as we are searching for the Lord’s direction in our lives wherever He would take us.
